Personal coaching can alleviate the ravages of individual Job Related Burnout.

If you are suffering from JRB you are most likely miserable. I know. I’ve been there. I became burned out as a family physician.

Individuals who become burned out are at risk for poor job performance, chronic unhappiness, increased irritability, depression, anxiety and mood swings. Even suicidal thoughts, suicidal actions, alcoholism and drug abuse are documented consequences of job related burnout. Bottom line, if you are burned out you will never feel you are living a life of purpose with passion. It doesn’t have to be this way.

Through one-on-one personal coaching I can help you to:

• Understand the damaging effects of JRB.
• Take steps to alleviate JRB by addressing the underlying causes
• Achieve clarity and focus concerning future dreams and goals
• Set realistic goals for transformational change and provide you with accountability
• Achieve balance in all four arenas of life – mental, emotional, physical and spiritual.

Job Related Burnout

Understanding the hallmarks of job related burnout is the first step toward fixing what is broken. The three principle hallmarks of job related burnout are:

• Emotional exhaustion – KEYWORD: Exhaustion
• Depersonalization – KEYWORD: Cynicism
• Lack of a sense of personal accomplishment – KEYWORD: Inefficacy

Although recognizing the hallmarks of job related burnout
is most important, these three hallmarks are not the cause.

Ninety percent of the time it isn’t the employee who burns themselves out, it is their work environment. There are six major mismatches between the employee and the work environment which will lead to burnout. Every organization and employee should be ever vigilant for these burnout inducing conditions. Here are the six major job mismatches which can lead to JRB:

• Work Overload
• Lack of Control
• Insufficient Reward
• Breakdown of Community
• Absence of Fairness
• Conflicting Values
